On the afternoon of July 23, 2023, the third Canal City Model United Nations General Assembly (MUNGA) was successfully concluded in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, in the afternoon of July 23, 2023, with the theme of "YANG" DREAMS - "LINK" FUTURE 2023 Summer.

Model United Nations focuses on developing students' ability to make effective presentations, debate effectively, communicate effectively and hone participants' problem-solving skills. Model UN activities can promote cross-cultural communication and understanding, in which participants represent different countries, cultures and values. Through the study of national politics, economy and foreign policy, students learn about international affairs and raise their international awareness, which helps to enhance understanding between countries and strengthen the recognition of multiculturalism and tolerance.

Mr. Che Guohua, Director of the Foreign Affairs Office of Yangzhou Municipal People's Government, said that the "Canal City Model United Nations Conference" program has been successfully held in Yangzhou for three consecutive summer conferences and one winter conference. As a supporting organization of the Model United Nations, the Yangzhou Foreign Affairs Office has participated in and witnessed the development and growth of this activity and the continuous improvement of its brand value. We look forward to more young people participating in the event in the future, sailing their youthful dreams together and connecting with the world together.

Mr. Yang Zerui, Director of the Research Office of the National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation of China, shared a speech on the theme of "What kind of worldview should we cultivate?", telling how to build a worldview with vivid cases. He hoped that in the future, no matter how much knowledge is exploding in the information age, delegates will learn to think and judge wisely, establish a civilized, rational and internationalized worldview, and become a qualified global citizen.

Prof. Ruan Hongmei, Professor of Northwestern Polytechnical University, Director of China United Nations Association, the first Chairman of China Model United Nations Instructors' Joint Committee, shared her heartfelt experience when she first came into contact with Model United Nations activities 22 years ago and brought Model United Nations to China, and also shared the experience of Model United Nations legacy, meanwhile, Model United Nations is a very academic and professional activity, and she hoped that all of you could gain something from the conference, and meet with all the delegates on the top on the international arena in the future.

At the closing ceremony, the chairmen of the committees also made summarized speeches about their own committee meetings.

At the same time, two outstanding student representatives, Qu Peiyao from Yizheng Middle School in Jiangsu Province and Li Xiang from Meiling Middle School in Yangzhou City, made speeches on the conference, sharing their harvests and difficulties in the process of participating in the conference, and sharing their growth and joy in the conference of the Model Association, and at the same time, looking forward to the future with all the delegates to exchange ideas and communication on a broader stage.

After three days of public speeches, panel discussions, document writing and final voting, the Bureau finally decided on the following awards based on the delegates' performance at the conference: Best Delegate Award, Outstanding Delegate Award, Best Position Paper Award, Best Delegation Award, Outstanding Delegation Award, Honorable Mention Award, and other categories of awards in recognition of the delegates' outstanding performance at the conference.

At the end of the closing ceremony, Gloria, the general manager of the conference, came on stage to give a speech of thanks, and talked about the concept of "Canal City Modeling Conference", hoping that students can be exposed to international messages, expand their speeches, enhance their knowledge, improve their abilities, and develop friendships on the platform of Canal City Modeling Conference. At the same time, she hoped that the students would see the importance of China's position on the world stage and grow up to be global citizens who speak for China. Finally, Gloria thanked all governments, organizations and individuals for their support of the Canal City Ivy League Conference, and hoped that all delegates would gain a lot from this conference and meet at the Canal City Ivy League Conference - USA in the winter of 2024!

At this point, the four-day "Sailing for Dreams, Connecting for the Future" Third Canal City Model United Nations Conference came to a successful conclusion. The conference improves the comprehensive quality of young people through high-end and professional practical learning, guides students to pay attention to national affairs, cultivate national sentiment, make progress and development together, face the world, face the future, and work together to enhance China's position on the world stage and achieve their personal goals in life.
