The 2021 Yangzhou International Horticultural Expo and the first Canal Cities Model United Nations (CCMUN 2021), is sponsored by the Working Committee of the partnership for UN Sustainable Development Goals Action 43481, relying on the platform of 2021 Yangzhou International Horticultural Expo, with the strong support of Yizheng Municipal Government and the World Historic and Cultural Canal Cities Cooperation Organization (WCCO), and is organized by the Window of Philadelphia and DENO International Education Consultant; Beijing World Union Institute of Sustainable Education and Technology, various associations and groups such as schools, media TV stations etc. supported the event, inorder to give outstanding elementary and secondary school students in the Yangtze River Delta area and canal cities the opportunity to exchange ideas and fully display their ability; to provide a platform of communication and opportunity for Chinese young people who want to tell the China Story and who are determined to engage in diplomacy!

On October 3, 2021, the opening ceremony of the 2021 Yangzhou International Horticultural Expo-first Canal Cities Model United Nations Conference was successfully held. Media such as Xinhua News, People's Daily, China News Network reported the event successively. The participating students from different regions representing respective countries and positions, expressed their opinions and displayed their talents, presenting a grand academic feast to the public.

Highlights of CCMUN 2021

• At the opening ceremony, Mr. Xu Haoliang, Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations, delivered a speech via video, wishing the CCMUN2021 a complete success, and expressed his great expectation for the wonderful performance of all the delegates.

• Tom Wolf, Governor of Pennsylvania, sent a congratulatory letter to express his support for the event. He also wished all the delegates to gain valuable experience through this MUN conference. 

• Mr. Xu Yongji, deputy director of the Department of International Cooperation and Exchange of the Ministry of Education, said that he believed that these experiences would benefit the future growth of the participants.

• Dr. Yang Zerui, director of the Research Office of the China National Committee for Pacific Economic Cooperation, shared his insights on how to view the world, the current problems and prospects of China in the world based on his own experience on live. He guided the delegates to think about how to better build China and the world in the future. He also hoped that the delegates can better exercise their international thinking through this MUN conference, so that they can see the world, think about the world, love the world, and build the world better.

• Li Yongdan, director of the Education Bureau of Duodao District, Jingmen City, Hubei Province, said on live that it is the inescapable responsibility of every modern citizen to establish a sense of community with a shared future for mankind, especially that young students should learn to understand the world, try to transform the world, and determine to contribute to the world. He hoped that the students participating in this event would think deeply about and explore global governance issues, feel the charm of multilateral diplomacy, and contribute to the creation of a future of win-win sharing, development and prosperity, health and safety, mutual respect and mutual learning. They should better exercise their own organization, planning, writing, speaking, debating, communication and other skills, and benefit from it for life. 

• Student representatives from the main venue in Yangzhou and the branch venue in Hubei gave speeches. Their speech left a deep impression on the students, teachers and guests.

• Based on the historical moment of the 50th anniversary of China's restoration of the legal seat of the United Nations, Zheng Yuchuan, the representative of the MUN committee dais members, sent a message to the participants to actively think about international issues from the perspective of history and the future.

During the conference, the delegates spoke enthusiastically and conducted in-depth discussions on topics such as "utilization of water resources" and "education equity". The delegates actively negotiated confidently and offered suggestions for the settlement of international issues.
